I am thoroughly captivated by the devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. I often pray that my heart and my daughter's heart will be one in His. It is comforting to know that the heart of our Savior beats with love for me and those I cherish.
So I was excited to delve into Dr. Robert Stackpole's latest Marian Press book, Our Light in the Darkness: The Sacred Heart of Jesus. Dr. Stackpole is a foremost expert on the Sacred Heart, and his vast knowledge shines through on every page.
I was particularly struck by the concept of consoling the heart of Jesus. Christ has done so much for me; it is only fitting that I work to console Him in His sufferings on our behalf. Dr. Stackpole provides a road map for doing just that and, as a result, performs a tremendous service for his readers.
I especially enjoyed Dr. Stackpole's references to St. Therese, St. Faustina, and the Blessed Mother and how they ministered to the heart of Jesus. These saintly women serve as wonderful role models for us today, giving us examples of how to live out our devotion to Our Lord.
If you are intrigued by the Sacred Heart, be sure to pick up a copy of Our Light in the Darkness. Chances are it will minister to you and enable you to grow in your appreciation of this timeless devotion.

Entronement to the Sacred Heart of Jesus is one of the best things our family has done. I've never fully understood consoling Jesus in His suffering myself, so that chapter intrigues me. Thanks for linking to An Open Book!
