What a remarkable achievement America is!
From the Bill of Rights to the Great American Songbook, the land I call home is an amazing experiment born of grit and grace.
Ever since I was a child, the 4th of July has been one of my all-time favorite holidays. I enjoy celebrating the United States and the unwavering hope it represents.
I began today’s celebration in a nearby adoration chapel, where I poured out my soul to the Eucharistic Lord. After a period of rest, I headed to lunch for some steak and sisterhood with my only sibling.
Tonight I shall watch a breathtaking fireworks display exploding across the horizon.
I realize that our land is not without its fault lines. A disrespect for human life, a worshipping of technology, and strained family relationships cause so much grief and pain. Yet, I believe our nation can be redeemed as a result of Christ’s sacrifice for us.
So I will keep on striving to ennoble my corner of America…to work for peace, justice, and life.
I wish you the happiest of Independence Days.
