Perhaps I am not the only one with this problem.
Many of the troubles in my life have stemmed from things I have said.
Looking back, I see the foolishness of my ways. When I reached a milestone birthday, I decided I would rein in my talking. It seemed as if I had already talked enough in my life.
Author Matthew Kelly believes that there is great power in the tongue. In fact, he states that what we say--or don't say--can represent a path to holiness.
That is the premise of his new book, The Forgotten Way: The Saint James Master Plan. In his own masterful way, Kelly deals with the dangers of excessive talking, the benefits of positive self-talk, and various other matters aimed at helping us to use our words wisely.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading The Forgotten Way and recommend it as a great summer read. It's the type of book I can foresee turning to again and again in an effort to grow in holiness.

Thank you, Maria, for pointing out a book that I might not otherwise have discovered. It certainly promises to deliver wisdom beneficial to my own life - especially the value of when NOT to speak. Many thanks for your own beautiful writings, which always contain much to contemplate and apply.
This seems like it'd be of use to many, many people. Many of us have a problem with speaking when it's not necessary. Thanks for linking to An Open Book!
