The book Millennial Nuns: Reflections on Living a Spiritual Life in a World of Social Media is, at its heart, a love story.
It is truly fascinating reading about how women from a variety of backgrounds and traditions came to embrace a vocation to the religious life. What ties the various vignettes together is an abiding love for Jesus.
As the founder of the Daughters of St. Paul once stated, "How beautiful and holy it is to communicate Jesus, whom we want to always carry in the center of our heart."
Among the sisters who lend their voice to this winsome work is Sister Amanda Marie Detry. While she was pumping gas one day--in habit--a man asked her "What made you want to do that?" In other words, why did she decide to become a sister?
Sister Amanda recalls the moment:
"Lord, what do I say? Where do I begin? Suddenly, every answer vanished--except one. I looked him in the eyes and gave a shy smile: 'Because I'm in love.'"
All of the sisters write movingly of their courtships with Christ. In reading their stories, you may find yourself longing to strengthen your own relationship with the Lord.
