Draw Close to Jesus

Draw Close to Jesus: A Woman's Guide to Eucharistic Adoration would be a treasured gift for Catholic mothers, grandmothers, and female friends. Author Merridith Frediani's debut work is phenomenal--one of the finest books on Adoration I have had the pleasure of reading.

Appropriate for both those new to the practice and Adoration veterans, Draw Closer to Jesus is both practical and profoundly spiritual. Frediani offers wonderful advice on making the most of one's hour before the Blessed Sacrament. She also covers frequent stumbling blocks to prayer, such as dryness, anger, fear, and worry.

Take this helpful passage about helping to curb the reader's anxieties:

"When we sit in front of our Savior, we can give the worry to him. Instead of allowing it to keep us from God, we bring it to him. We can be assured of his support when we ask him to help us let it go. The antidote to worry is trust in God and surrendering control to him."

The author concludes the book with a section on "Catholic Stuff," which includes primers not only on the Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet, but powerful prayers such as The Litany of Humility and The Litany of Trust. No matter where you are on the spiritual path, you can find much sustenance for your journey in the pages of this fine book.
