A Helpful Guide for Confession

If you are Catholic, you may remember your first visit to the Confessional. Chances are it was at least a little intimidating.

Father Mike Schmitz of the Bible-in-a-Year podcast and Father Josh Johnson, another celebrated Catholic communicator, are on a mission to help the faithful better appreciate the sacrament that can cause our stomachs to rumble and our hearts to tremble.

They have produced an incredible book--The Pocket Guide to the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Through down-to-earth examples, they help to take the fear out of confessing. They are so encouraging and hope-filled--their enthusiasm for the sacrament is infectious.

They realize the genuine struggle that we all face with respect to sin. But they also believe strongly in the Sacrament of Reconciliation's ability to help heal us of the wounds that lead to our transgressions.

As Father Josh writes;

"Even the greatest saints struggled with vice and virtue as they matured in their relationship with Our Lord. It is important to keep this in mind as we continue our walk toward eternity. We will have ups and downs in our relationship with God, but we must imitate the saints and never give up on his mercy."

Whether you are a newcomer to the sacrament or a frequent flyer, you are likely to find much solace and comfort in The Pocket Guide to the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
